Temple Jar
Gorton, Larry was right.
Unfortunately, having correctly predicted what he would say was easier not any audience.
I needed to make the trip. Find closure. Photograph of the scene. Give the man a proper burial back in Texas. All this is true. A part of me was relieved that at least death would end their addictions temporarily released him from his greatest weaknesses, and freed him from the loneliness that had wrapped itself from the Mother died.
I was reminded once again that there was always the man who had spoken by phone two years ago. Anxious. Desperate. Run. Addict.
Alone.
I also reminded myself that it was not the one driving the truck that killed my grandmother. He had been Dr. lazy voluntarily prescribed pills for my mother who did not need. And he was not the pills that he molested and buried his head in the sand of depression.
Dad was not the only one who refused to observe the sun is still rising, although it was not.
Although we've grown apart, I still want the best for him.
It felt good to think about it.
I did not allow me to consider alternatives. Dad was sure was killed in the storm or its aftermath and her body was somewhere waiting to be identified and claimed.
But what if it had not been murdered? What if my father was unattainable in Houston or Baton Rouge or some other big city threw? What if he had boarded a bus and have opted for a fresh start where you stopped outside?
What if I want this? What if I wanted to find him and forgive him and write a song with him?
Pushed that idea aside awkward time for Jordan to call and ask him to meet me at six principles for a dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant a few blocks from my building.
He walked in, on time as usual, and slid into the chair opposite me.
"This seat taken?"
"I I ".
She smiled and took my hands in hers.
Alone? Are you sure? "
I smiled. "Yes.

My mother and father were native Texans and high school sweethearts. Dad had been "going with" In biology lab mom partner, Becky Ravenscroft, and ate together every day in the harsh orange stools attached to the last round, rectangular table in the back of the cafeteria.
Turning on a Thursday afternoon otherwise uneventful, Dad was eating a sandwich on Wonder bread Fluffernutter and chatting with Becky when I saw my mother slipped out the back door the cafeteria. He wore nothing but a brown paper bag.
Dad had never seen this girl before. "He moved in slow motion," described. "His hair was so neat. Its so immaculately applied blush. His teeth so pearly white.
Dad said he was separated from the crowd as the Red Sea and headed toward him, scanning left and right to a seat. Like her father saw the state school all shouted and waved tight Becky from three tables away.
"Becky Ravenscroft! You good at geometry?"
Becky jumped and ran to the table of "athlete."
Mom, others, only saw a young man sitting alone in the last table in the cafeteria. He approached the boy who would one day marry. "Do you mind if I sit here? "
"Sure," Dad said.
"You mind?"
"No, I mean I do not care. Sure you can be here. "Palms of dad were so sweaty I had to set his sandwich and wipe your hands on your pants below the table.
She sat down and began throwing their lunch with one element at a time with a Fried plastic bag, plastic bag with four pieces of celery, a plastic bag with a sandwich Fluffernutter.
Dad said he knew at the time he spent the rest of the half-life of your pantry with marshmallow cream and butter peanut. Within a week, Dad finally had the big new girlfriend he deserved, and Becky had to find a new lab partner. The new couple was inseparable for the remainder of his junior year and right through graduation from high school.
They stayed together, even when dad was ready Sprint to first base, but Mom wanted to save herself for marriage, because he had promised his mother at their sixteenth sweet he would. Dad wear strongly suggests that more modest. Mom suggested that taking cold showers.
When Mom wanted to go to SMU instead of Texas A & M, Dad changed his plans and followed.
When my father had a dream during the first year that one day he had designed buildings in the land and a temple in heaven, Mom encouraged him out of premeditation and study architecture.
Not a year later, mom decided that her heart wanted to teach school children primary instead of doing a PhD and become a teacher. Dad bought a Snoopy thermos and filled with daisies.
Then Dad was inspired to spend a semester abroad to study architecture in Italy. Mom took a semester off and followed him.
So when Dad knelt in the shade of Leaning Tower of Pisa and asked if she had her dreams, the answer was easy.
"Yes.
