Chest pain is the most common sign of heart attack, but it is important to understand that there are different types of chest pain. Many people with coronary artery disease angina pectoris which is chest pain or discomfort when the heart is not getting enough blood. Usually occurs when the heart is working harder, and during exercise or physical activity, but disappears when the activity has stopped.
The chest pain associated with heart attack can occur anywhere time, especially in the morning, and is long lasting and continuous. People with a history of angina pectoris may experience more frequent attacks of angina in weeks or days before they have a heart attack.
The chest pain is often described as severe, as if something was crushing the chest of the victim a heart attack, feeling a heavy pressure, squeezing or extreme. Some people have described as a chest tightness or burning sensation. Pain itself usually begins in the center of the chest. Then you can radiate outwards and affect the shoulders, neck, jaw or arms. These chest pains last 15 minutes and not relieved by rest or taking nitroglycerin.
The signs of a heart attack for women and older adults may be different. Often their Symptoms appear as atypical chest pain. This means that it feels more like indigestion or heartburn and can include nausea and vomiting. The Women are more likely than men to have a silent heart attack or unrecognized. For women also experience shortness of breath and fatigue and weakness shoulders and arms.
Older adults often seek medical attention for a variety of symptoms including difficulty breathing, confusion, fainting, dizziness, abdominal pain or coughing. They often think they are having a stroke when they are actually suffering a heart attack.
Other symptoms that occur during a heart attack are the answers to the damage that the heart is suffering during the attack. Anxiety, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat the heart), and vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels) occur in response to stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. This results in clammy skin, mottling. The respiratory center of the brain responds to pain and changes in blood chemistry by increasing respiration rate. Tissue death causes inflammation of the heart that causes an increase in white blood cells and elevated temperature.
Depending on the location and quantity of harassment (dead) heart tissue other signs of heart may include high blood pressure, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, or bradycardia (slow heart rate). The membrane irritation can also cause hiccups. In extreme cases, the first sign of a heart attack is sudden death. This is particularly likely in the event that a major blood vessel is completely blocked.
It is extremely important to seek care medical at the first signs of heart attack. The sooner a heart attack victim receives medical care for the better their chances of survival.
